With so much focus on wellbeing, achieving a state where we feel satisfied with our lives can seem unattainable. We often believe that wellbeing means to significantly improve something about ourselves, our partners or our children. Sometimes being a well being means to give ourselves space around a significant grief, sometimes it means doing our best to navigate a relationship breakdown, sometimes it means adding a skill to our toolkit to manage a mood disorder as best as we can. Being a wellbeing means we are able to manage the ups and downs of life and acknowledge when we could benefit from some extra support while doing so.

Our services are delivered face to face (all clients) and via Telehealth (for adults 18+).

  • What can my child expect from a counselling session?
Prior to taking on a referral for your child, we will always speak with their carer/s first. We want to understand why they believe a child might benefit from counselling and a bit about the family dynamic. We involve families as much as we can in our work. We also engage with schools and other services where appropriate and helpful, and always with consent from you and the child in your care. During our sessions kids can expect to draw, talk about their concerns, play therapeutic games and learn new skills.
  • How long are the sessions?
Our kids session times can vary depending on age, level of concentration and whether family, health services or school consultation is involved in the support we are providing. We can discuss this further with you at your free initial consultation or first session.
  • Do you offer assessment and diagnosis support?
While we certainly offer support to parents and children who might have received a diagnosis, we do not provide any assessment services at Amaya. We encourage you to work with your GP to identify the best service and referral pathways to assist you with this kind of support.
